How to Change the Mouse Scrolling Speed in Firefox

Quick And Easy in Windows or Linux.

Default mouse scrolling speed is set in the software you are using. All we need to do is set Firefox to a higher number. (I have mine set to 60)

Windows users.

  • Open a new tab at the top of your Firefox window, keeping this page open.
  • Then type about:config in the address bar.
  • In the search box type mousewheel.acceleration

You should see a search result called mousewheel.acceleration.start and mousewheel.acceleration.factor

  • Double click “mousewheel.acceleration.start” then set the number to 1 or more, default is -1
  • Double click “mousewheel.acceleration.factor” then set to higher or lower, default is 10

Repeat the last step till you find your comfy speed.

Linux users.

  • Open a new tab at the top of your Firefox window, keeping this page open.
  • Then type about:config in the address bar.
  • In the search box search for mousewheel.min_line_scroll_amount

You should see a search result called mousewheel.min_line_scroll_amount

  • Double click “mousewheel.min_line_scroll_amount” then set the number to 60, press ok and test out your new speed.

Repeat the last step till you find your comfy speed.
